Centro
The Centro of Montevideo is the vibrant business and administrative center of the Uruguayan capital. Banks, office buildings, government institutions, and the city's most important shopping streets are concentrated here, especially the busy Avenida 18 de Julio.
The architecture of Centro reflects different eras: From magnificent Art Deco buildings from the 1920s to modernist high-rises and contemporary glass facades. The Palacio Salvo, one of Montevideo's landmarks, dominates the center's skyline at 100 meters tall.
Centro houses the Montevideo Stock Exchange, the Central Bank of Uruguay, and the headquarters of the country's largest companies.
Avenida 18 de Julio is the main artery and shopping street of Centro. Here you'll find department stores, boutiques, cafés, and cultural institutions. The street is named after the day of the Uruguayan constitution and connects Plaza Independencia with the Obelisco of Montevideo.
Real estate in Centro is particularly suitable for commercial purposes and as office space. The central location with excellent connections to public transport makes this neighborhood attractive for businesses. Apartments for professionals who value short commutes to work are also in demand here.
