Cerro Pan de Azucar - Third Highest Mountain in Uruguay

The Cerro Pan de Azucar - Sugarloaf Mountain - at 423 meters is the third highest mountain in Uruguay. On its summit towers a monumental cross, visible from afar and has become the landmark of the region.

The ascent leads through a nature park with rich flora and fauna. The path is challenging but well developed. Once at the top, a 360-degree panorama unfolds over the coast, the lagoons and the hinterland.

The Summit Cross
The 35-meter-high cross on the summit contains a spiral staircase through which one can climb to the top. From there the view is breathtaking.

The Cerro Pan de Azucar is a must for nature lovers and hikers. The surrounding nature reserve is home to rare plants and animals. The mountain can be climbed all year round.
